The Academy supplies its titles in quantity to medical colleges, hospital libraries, cardiology departments, training programmes, professional societies and conference organisers. This page sets out what can be ordered in bulk, how pricing is arrived at, and what to include in an enquiry so a quotation comes back quickly.

Who orders in bulk

  • Medical colleges and universities issuing a set text to a cohort
  • Hospital and institutional libraries
  • Cardiology and internal medicine departments
  • CME programmes and workshops supplying delegates
  • Conference organisers assembling delegate kits
  • Postgraduate batches buying together
  • Training institutes and examination coaching programmes
  • Corporate medical education programmes
  • Doctors’ associations and professional societies

Formats

Every title is available digitally. Selected titles are also produced as paperback and hardcover; hard-copy availability, print lead time and delivery cost are confirmed against the specific titles once an enquiry arrives, because they vary by title, quantity and destination. Where a title exists only in digital form, a licensed institutional distribution can usually be arranged instead.

Quantities

Bulk terms generally begin at ten copies of a single title, and also apply to several titles ordered together as a package, to institutional book sets, to conference distribution sets and to library collection packages. Final eligibility is confirmed on review, because a small order of an expensive hardcover and a large order of a digital title are not comparable.

What determines the discount

  • The number of copies ordered
  • The format — digital, paperback or hardcover
  • Production and printing cost for that particular title
  • Shipping destination, for physical orders
  • Whether the order is a single title or a mixed package

Institutional and academic licensing

Libraries and training programmes that want a title available to a whole cohort simultaneously, rather than distributing individual files, should ask about a licensed institutional copy. Licensing is priced by concurrent users and term, and includes the right to host the title on an internal learning management system. Redistribution beyond the licensed institution is not permitted; the terms are set out in the Academy’s copyright policy.

Custom and co-branded editions

For conferences and departmental programmes, a cover carrying the host institution’s identity, a bound selection drawn from several titles, or a foreword written for the specific programme can be arranged. Custom editions need a longer lead time and a firm quantity before production begins.

Making an enquiry

Send the following through the contact page and a quotation will follow: institution name and your role; the titles wanted, or the subject area if you would like a recommendation; quantity per title; format; delivery address and the date the books are needed by; and any invoicing or tax registration requirements. Enquiries are acknowledged within two working days and quotations hold for thirty days.

If you are not sure what a cohort needs, the collections page maps reading to training stage, and the course programme can be licensed for a department alongside the books.
